It is aptly said that ‘It is possible to fly without motors, but not without knowledge and skill’. Skill development is a proven enabling agent to get closer to employability or to become an entrepreneur. United Nation Sustainable Development Goal No. 8 that lay emphasis on ‘Decent Work and Economic Growth’ clearly states how knowledge & skill development is important for human advancement that eventually results into economic growth.
Sewa International very well understands the power of education & skill development. Therefore, our efforts in the very direction envisions to empower the youth and make them future ready.
Our efforts towards skill development include empowering women by providing them hands-on training in Knitting and Ringal handicrafts (bamboo craft) in Uttarakhand. After the Bhuj earthquake, we started training and empowering kutch women to make self-reliant thru their embroidery and stitching work. In a bid to keep up with the new age market trends, we began our journey with Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) and PMKVY (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana) centers, to provide industry specific skill-based training in various job roles in Uttarakhand and in West Bengal as well. When we started our project in Tripura, Bamboo furniture/handicraft making workshop for young tribal boys was very popular. Later on, we delivered training in tailoring for women folks implemented under PMKVY scheme. ’
